There have been some fabulous beauty books released this year. Sali has of course written her second book, Pretty Iconic (available from Amazon and other bookstores, £12.49). When my copy arrived I’d planned to read it slowly, a few products at a time, but ended up devouring it with a plan to revisit in depth between Christmas and New Year. It’s a beautifully written trip down beauty’s memory lane, part memoir, part love note to iconic products past, present and future.

Sali also recently interviewed Sam McKnight for our In The Bathroom series, and his book Hair by Sam McKnight, £35, is a sumptuous journey through four decades working at the very top of his profession with some of fashion’s biggest names. Highly recommended for a fashion or beauty aficionado who wants to leaf through stunning images created by the very best in the industry.

Make-up artists and vloggers Sam Chapman and Nic Haste, aka Pixiwoo, have released their first book, Face (£9.99) this year. It’s a brilliant how to guide, which cleverly links to video tutorials via an app so that you can recreate the looks in the book. Fantastic for anyone getting into make-up, whether a beginner or someone who wants to stretch their skills.

Poppy King of Lipstick Queen has written the A to Z of Lipstick, £8.99 – a charmingly illustrated guide to all things lip. This would be a lovely little book to give as a stocking filler.
