Whether you’ve been out celebrating or up late making twelve bits of random fabric into something representing a shepherd’s costume, by this stage of the game you might be feeling a little jaded. What you, or a loved one, might need is something to put a little perk back into your complexion. These products do the job perfectly without making you look like an extra from Twilight.

For an all over pep up, The Estée Edit Flash Illuminator, £22, can be used all over as a primer or mixed with your favourite base to just brighten things up a bit. Since Dior discontinued Glow Maximizer (we’re still in mourning), Sali’s been using this loads.

If you’d prefer a powder, you could go one of two ways – something that could be applied all over to give general glow, and / or a highlighting powder, which you’d generally use along cheekbones and just under the brow. For a general glow, Diorskin Nude Air Glow Powder, £35.10, will lift the complexion on the days when you really didn’t want to get out of bed. The packaging is stunning, a beautifully weighted silver compact with a matching kabuki brush. I made a small involuntary noise of pleasure when I opened it.

The entire Burberry Christmas collection is drop dead gorgeous this year, and the Gold Glow Fragranced Luminising Powder, £45, with its embossed bow is almost too lovely to use. Let’s not be saving this for best though – it’s a definite, but subtle, gold highlighter that’s perfect for a night out.

pure_light_collection1_2_1British brand Delilah have put together a set of three illuminating powders – Solar, Aura and Lunar – with a powder brush, £48. This is a beautiful collection of two highlighters and a bronzer, and the brush is smaller than regular sized powder brushes, so a much better size for applying highlighter.

The largest pan, Surreal Light, can be used all over the face as a finishing powder, whilst the four smaller pans are a mix of bronzer, blush and highlighter that you could experiment with to find the perfect combination.
