We’re very fond of a stylish mirror that pops neatly into a handbag. It would be very cheering to take one of these mirrors out on, say, a miserable train journey to check your lipstick, lashes or powder situation (Southern Rail should really be dishing these out for free).
The Kate Spade New York Telephone Compact Mirror is gorgeous (£31). Flip it open and practice saying “Kensington 341, please, operator” in your best Celia Johnson.
We’re huge fans of Andrea Garland’s quirky designs, and she’s got a simple handbag mirror for £4 – a perfect stocking filler. If you love her designs but want something more substantial, there are flip-open compact mirrors from £30.
For those who prefer a more graphic design, this mirror from Bagsy, £12, opens to reveal one magnifying and one normal mirror.
Finally, for a larger portable mirror that’s fantastic for students, festivals and so on, the Magic Mirror (from £39) can be hung to provide a full length view, folded into a pyramid for applying make-up or opened out into a three section vanity mirror. A brilliant gift for anyone who travels regularly.
