The musician and writer chooses her can’t-live-without beauty staples.
1. Smashbox Photo Finish Colour Correcting Primer in Adjust, £25
I have pale skin with a tendency to flush, especially in these menopausal days. This green primer, which I stress should be applied UNDERNEATH foundation to avoid that Wicked Witch of the West look, is really helpful in reducing unwanted redness. Applying it is great fun though, as it’s the colour of pea soup. Trust me, it’s good and you won’t look green.
2. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF20 in Nude, £33
Easy peasy stuff. Just rub it on like it’s moisturiser and while it’s looking after your skin, it also brilliantly evens out skin tone. Makes you look much better without looking like you’ve put any make-up on.
3. Laura Mercier Sheer Lip Colour in Tender Lips, £16
This was bought initially as a replacement for my teenage lipstick of choice, No7’s Shiny Conker when that became unavailable. This is the closest match I could find. It’s a good day lip colour – not nude, but doesn’t scream LIPSTICK or come off on your teeth. Sexy Lips is also a good shade but I hate asking for it in the shop, it sounds so naff.
4. By Terry Crayon Kohl Terrybly in Black Print, £22
This is my current favourite kohl pencil, and I love a kohl pencil. I ordered online and when it arrived, tried it out on the back of my hand. Four hours later I was still trying to remove the black line. Great, I thought, I can apply this just the once in my life and my eyes are solved!
