Dior Glow Maximizer

The primer that’s now a staple in Sali’s make-up bag

Rarely does a product arrive and so quickly take root in my make-up bag as this little beauty. It’s a primer – a really, really brilliant primer that I’ve worn every day for about four months, hooked from the very first use. Quite simply, it’s a light reflector with what I class as “40-something strength” glow giving properties. None of this fannying around with light sheen and subtle brightness – this primer gets stuck in with iridescent, gleaming particles that never look remotely glittery or space age. Instead, they shine brightly but naturally behind your foundation, or noticeably boost a dull complexion when worn alone with concealer (I find myself doing this loads currently). Basically, anyone who’s ever read “light reflecting” on a product, only to look in the mirror and think “WHERE?”, this is for you.

If that weren’t enough, Glow Maximizer gives a perfect surface for make-up – like your skin has been laminated – and keeps everything locked down all day. It’s not a primer for anyone wanting a totally matte, velvety finish, but for those who like a little more spark and dew. And please don’t be put off by its pinkness on your fingertip. As soon as you begin to stroke it into the face it rather satisfyingly turns golden, making it suitable for every skin tone, light to dark.

As testament to how much I love Glow Maximizer, last week I missed the last train home and had to unexpectedly spend the night in a Covent Garden hotel. Woefully unprepared, I woke up the next morning with only a small make-up pouch in my handbag and a full day of important meetings ahead. I rushed straight out to the shops and bought the following: pants, a toothbrush, paste, deodorant, cleanser, moisturiser, Dior Glow Maximizer. Yes, really. I can’t say any more than that.
