Addicted to pretty palettes? I’ve found your new fix.
I’m a sucker for a palette. There’s none more satisfying a discovery than a beautiful, weighty compact containing nothing but goodness – gorgeous colours that combine wearability with an opportunity to experiment with something new. Lancome’s new Hypnose eyeshadow palettes hit my sweet spot. Five chic, interesting and complementary shades that go on dry to give lids a subtle, sexy, grown up veil of colour (the Star palettes are shimmery, the Drama versions also feature matte). But dip your eye brush first in toner, and you transform the shadows into creamy powders that give a strong, intensely glittery or densely pigmented, long lasting finish. Or mix wet with dry – I’ve been enjoying using the lid shadows as they are, then wetting the darkest shade for a liquid-effect liner. However you choose to apply, the really impressive things here are the clever colour choices. From the rich, cool denims of Bain de Minuit (that offer a modern take on the trad smoky eye), to my favourite, Kaki Chic, a stunning range of glitzy, golden greens that are always glamorous, never earthy; believe me when I say these 12 perfect palettes are all killer, no filler. Phwoar.
