Paul Joe Brushes

Want. Need. Have.

My make-up brushes (mostly by Stila, Tom Ford, Crown, Space NK and Laura Mercier) are the most valuable part of my kit, but I’ve recently decided I need to keep them separate from those for personal use. I’m constantly washing them, wading through hundreds for the everyday basics and forgetting to put them back where I need them for work. These little beauties from Paul & Joe, I have decided, are the answer. Six quality brushes with the most gorgeous yet very practical Bakelite handles (unlike classic painted wood, they wash easily without cracking and go great with my Biba wallpaper), stored beautifully in a pleasingly nana, fan-shaped matching holder. I can’t say I will ever use the sponge applicator (£8.50), but the Cheek Colour Brush (£16.50) and Face Colour Brush (£21.50) are both very good – domed, natural-haired and sturdy.

A full set (90-odd quid) surely makes the most thrilling present. If you don’t want someone to hand you a full set of these then I fear your heart may have irretrievably stopped.

Paul & Joe Beaute brushes and holder, from £8.50, in-store at Harrods, Fenwick and Selfridges; online from Asos.com and BeautyMart
