Elemis Skin Nourishing Milk Bath, £33.49

If you want to buy your mum or gran a no-holds-barred, no-expense-spared, ‘start-ignoring-everyone-else-and-start-spoiling-yourself-FFS’ gift, then you could do a whole lot worse than this. It is one of my all-time favourite products and one I always squeal over if it lands through my letterbox. I hoard it, never pass it on, and timetable entire weeks around getting the chance to lock the bathroom door and soak in it for a good hour. This is a bath milk that causes you to keep turning on the hot tap with your toe, topping up to avoid leaving its cushioning softness. It’s a product whose best friend is an addictive novel and glass of Picpoul, and one that causes my skin go wrinkly despite my knowing full well that’s a pretty bad idea. The bottle is pricey but enormous, it smells soft, warm and cosy without reeking of girlie scent. It moisturises the skin without leaving a coat of oil around the bath to undo its goodness with 20 minutes’ solid scrubbing with Cif. You feel clean, the bathroom looks clean, everything smells wonderful. It’s bliss and she deserves it.
