Nails Inc Kensington Church Street Snowflake polish, £12

Nails Inc have done brilliantly this Christmas. Their Christmas crackers (containing full sized party polishes) represent excellent value, their Nail Polish Diary, featuring seasonally appropriate polishes for every month of the year at a great value price, is one of the year’s most ingenious beauty ideas. They’ve been so bloody clever that it should be hard to pick a favourite, but for me, it’s certainly this. Kensington Church Street is a clear-based polish that gives the effect of snowflakes having landed on the nails. Simple really. And that’s its beauty. This is an idiot-proof polish that can be slapped on hastily after a few too many eggnogs and it still looks gorgeous. Its subtle flake-speckled effect means it’s fun but not too out there for kids, mums and grannies. It can be layered over colours as a top coat (I like it over navy for a starry night look) or alone as a cheeky festive detail on an otherwise casual look. It’s extremely cute and wintery and will still look cool throughout January and February, by which point, any recipient will be just about running out and ready to dip into Spring colours.
