Salonniere by Jenny Packham Compact Magnifying Mirror & Pouch, £10
You can never have too many mirror compacts – which is handy when you’re as crazy about them as I am. I have two Chanels, a Stratton, a Lulu Guinness and an Andrea Garland to ensure there’s one in every handbag, but I’ve never found a lovely one as cheap as this before. It’s from designer Jenny Packham’s Salonniere range for Boots and has a lovely Art Deco feel, with an emerald-cut jewel shape, glossy black body and gold-tone frame. One could happily remove it from a clutch bag in a nice restaurant and feel pretty smart. It’s very practical too, with a x2 magnifier as well as a regular mirror, and proper hinges that open flat (this is absolutely essential in a mirror compact. I cannot live with those maddening ones that open to 90 degrees). It’s a thing of beauty that would please any woman, from grandmother and mum to girlfriend and sister. And it’s cheap enough that you could probably pick one up for yourself with some Advantage points, no?
