Wedding season is right around the corner. Whether you are the bride, mother of the bride, bridesmaid, guest, or the makeup artist, you may be in need of tips on how to get the perfect wedding makeup look. I reached out to Sabrina, one of our personal shoppers and wedding makeup experts at jane iredale, to ask for her best wedding makeup tips. Here’s what she had to share:

“My best wedding day makeup advice is to look like you, just enhanced. If you don’t normally wear a lot of makeup I would suggest staying light on your wedding day as well. You want your husband to recognize you and you want to be happy when you look back at photos. Waterproof and highly water resistant makeup is a must! You want to look your best even through tears (happy tears, of course)! I always tend to lean toward the pressed powder when doing wedding makeup as it has a more matte finish. Brides get nervous and hot and they sweat…you want them to look fresh in photos and not shiny. False lashes look beautiful on your wedding day, but I would advise doing a pre-wedding trial first so that you can see if you like them and get used to them. I always suggest wearing a little more blush than normal on your wedding day, as wearing all white can tend to make you look washed-out in photos. Always purchase the lip color or gloss you will be wearing on your wedding day so that you can use it for touchups throughout the night. I always advise keeping facial blotting papers on hand as well. Eye Highlighter Pencil is a must for highlighting! I usually use the highlighter pencil under the brows, on the inner corner of the eyes, along the cheekbone, and right above the Cupid’s bow of the lips!”

Thanks for the great tips Sabrina!

If you are looking for some inspiration this wedding season, keep reading! Below are three different looks from three lovely jane iredale employees who were recently married. While each bride has her own special makeup look, we hope these inspire you!

Meet Katelyn

Katelyn is one of our lovely personal shoppers; she was married in August of 2011. Katelyn says: “Our wedding theme was to be as green and environmentally friendly as possible!  We actually had a private ceremony on August 13th on top of the Tyringham Cobble, which is on the Appalachian Trail. It was significant to us because we thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2009.  Yes, there was a short hike up, and, yes, I hiked in my wedding dress!  The next day we held our reception at Crissey Farm, which is a green facility with solar-brewed beer and local food.  My dress was my mother’s dress that we redesigned with a local seamstress.  We had minimal décor, but we included perennial flowers that we planted in our garden, so now they will bloom year after year.  Most of our flowers were local and the arrangements included kale and gladiolas from our garden.  We put a little pail of organic blueberries from our blueberry farm next to each place setting.  Our wedding ‘favors’ were burlap bags with recipe cards attached. Guests could fill the bags with vegetables grown in our garden, my parents’ garden, and a local farm stand.”

Here’s a picture of Katelyn looking absolutely lovely on her wedding day!

Katelyn’s Look

Katelyn’s goal was to have a very natural look on her wedding day. She doesn’t usually wear a lot of makeup, and as Sabrina suggested, you should try to look like yourself on your wedding day. Katelyn applied her own makeup, and started her look with Dream Tint Tinted Moisturizer in Medium/Light followed by PurePressed Base Mineral Foundation in Warm Sienna. She used Active Light Under-eye Concealer #2 as her concealer and applied Sunbeam Quad Bronzer to her cheeks. Katelyn used Antique Rose PurePressed Eye Shadow all over her eyelid and Shell PurePressed Eye Shadow as a highlighter on her brow bone. She lined her eyes with the brown of the Black/Brown Cream to Powder Eyeliner and finished with mascara. Katelyn lined her lips with the Spice Lip Pencil and filled in with Iced Mocha PureGloss Lip Gloss.

Meet Connie

Connie is our Marketing Communication Specialist at jane iredale. Connie and her husband were married on July 2, 2011, in a garden ceremony followed by an indoor reception at a historic hotel.  Her colors were pewter and various shades of purple.

Here’s a photo of Connie on her wedding day, isn’t she stunning!

Connie’s Look

Connie describes her look: “I wanted my skin to look perfect and to enhance my features in a natural way. I wanted my makeup to be visible but not to take over my look.” Connie achieved just that with the help of a makeup artist. She started by applying Absence Oil Control Primer 1 to help combat any excess shine on her very warm wedding day. She then applied PurePressed Base in Warm Silk followed by D2O Hydration Spray to keep her skin hydrated. Connie wore the Antique Rose/Merlot PurePressed Eye Shadow Duo, with Antique Rose on her eyelid and Merlot in her crease. She highlighted her brow bone with her favorite makeup product, the Complete In Touch Highlighter. Connie lined her eyes with the Basic Black Eye Pencil and applied lots of PureLash Lash Extender and Conditioner as well as Black Ice Longest Lash Thickening and Lengthening Mascara. She wore Barely Rose PurePressed Blush on her cheeks and Roses and Lollipops on her lips.

Meet Laura

Laura is the E-Commerce Manager at jane iredale. Laura and her husband were married on July 23, 2011, (in case you hadn’t noticed, it was a busy summer for weddings here!). Laura’s wedding ceremony and reception took place on her family’s property in the Berkshires, complete with a tractor ride from the ceremony to the reception site. The highlight? Probably when Laura jumped into the pool with her dress on at the end of the night. The wedding day was a scorcher!

Here’s a photo of Laura (pre-swim) looking gorgeous!

Laura’s Look

Laura wanted to look soft and romantic, with a touch of vintage Hollywood for her wedding, and she absolutely achieved it. Laura had Sabrina’s help with her makeup and started by applying Medium Dream Tint Tinted Moisturizer followed by PurePressed Base in Warm Sienna as her foundation. She then spritzed with her absolute favorite Hydration Spray, POMMISST. Laura concealed using Active Light #2 and got her all over sun-kissed glow using Sunbeam Quad Bronzer and the White Fan Brush. She wore Clarity In Touch Cream Blush on her cheeks. For her eyes, Laura wore Glimmer Gold PurePressed Eye Shadow on her entire eyelid and Dawn PurePressed Eye Shadow in her crease. She lined her eyes with the brown of Brown/Black Cream to Powder Eyeliner. Laura’s brows were shaped and filled in using the Blonde Bitty Brow Kit. She went for a dramatic look with her lashes by applying Faux Lashes followed by a few coats of Longest Lash Thickening and Lengthening Mascara in Black Ice. Laura used the White/Pink Highlighter to highlight the inner corner of her eyes and her brow bone, as well as her Cupid’s bow. She lined her lips with the Spice Lip Pencil and filled in with Soft Peach PureGloss Lip Gloss.

All three of these women looked absolutely stunning in their own special ways on their wedding days. Our best advice is that you have a trial application of your makeup before your wedding day. Whether you are applying your makeup yourself or using an artist, practice makes perfect! Please share your own wedding makeup looks with us on our Facebook page. Happy wedding season!
