Korres Vetiver Root Green Tea Cedarwood

KorresThe last time I had anything to do with teenage boys, the pervading fragrance was two parts Lynx Africa to one part Marlboro Lights, with a topnote of Clearasil. Good times.

I had hoped that things might have moved on for teen lads, at least fragrance-wise, but even the briefest glance around Boots tells me that for boys with a high street budget, the pickings are pretty slim, with the novelty gift set still holding firm. Terrifying, bright blue aftershave lotions and body sprays in the shape of a spanner are enough to put a young gun off grooming for life.

For a decent scent without the dodgy bottle or an alarming price tag, Korres is a good starting point. The Greek brand bases all its products on herbs and plant extracts —their showers gels are the business for girls and boys alike—and this eau de toilette has an earthy warmth, with none of the paint-stripping citrus you might expect from a cheaper scent. Which, given that teen boys on a night out seem to employ a crop sprayer approach, can only be a good thing.
