Real Techniques Nic’s Picks Brush Set

A decent make-up brush is really important in getting good, even make-up application and can cost an eye-watering amount, and that’s before you’ve stabbed yourself in the cornea with an expensive sable bristle. With the arrival of Real Techniques brushes, the Pixiwoo sisters have done wonderful things for the high street beauty fan. They have successfully created a range of affordable tools that actually work, are suitable for, and loved by burgeoning beauty enthusiasts and practiced addicts alike.

For Christmas the brand has launched two great value collections. Sam’s set features a collection of some of their most popular brushes, which I have mostly tried and are excellent, but I particularly like the look of Nic’s selection which has a Duo Fiber Powder Brush, Duo Fiber Base Shadow Brush, and three brushes completely exclusive to the set; Cheek Brush, Angled Shadow Brush, and Angled Eye Liner Brush. Pretty much all you need to attend to your whole face for a mere twenty quid.

Each brush is clearly labelled for guidance, but they are also multi-functional. They use cruelty free Taklon bristles, which are good with cream, liquid or powder, are reassuringly soft and fluffy, but wash well. As a bonus I find the limited edition silver handles of this set a little easier on the eye than the regular coloured ones.

If you know anyone who is still using those godawful free eyeshadow applicators, do them a massive favour and get them one of these sets.
