It’s the heart of winter, whether the weather is cold in your home town, it is certainly a time when we can have the winter doldrums. Let’s get out of our beauty ruts and elevate our beauty routines! As part of the whole “in with the new” spirit for the new year, we are launching a new series of tips & tricks encouraging beauty exploration and experimentation.
Some of these may be tips from our National Makeup Artist Educators about how to make the most of certain products. Some might be interesting things we have discovered around the Internet about skin care or makeup (we are, after all beauty mavens just like you!). Some might be exciting but wearable takes on the latest trends. And some may be the decidedly off-label ways we discover to use our makeup. They’re not officially sanctioned, but we love them and we’re going to keep using them!
Today’s tip is from that last category, a cocktail I discovered to hide seriously dark circles. Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener is supposed to be used as a primer, to create a smooth canvas for makeup to be applied on top. We’re not supposed to mix it with other things. But by doing just that, I created an undetectable, smooth blending, non-creasing, non-caking, non-fine-line enhancing concealer that I adore. Here’s my recipe:
- Squeeze a tiny bit ofSmooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener onto the back of your hand, as small an amount as you can get.
- Swirl both sides of your Camouflage Brush around Enlighten Concealer and then mix it together with the Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener on the back of your hand. It should be fairly liquid.
- Use the Camouflage Brush to dab it onto the dark semi circle that comes down from your tear duct, moving out to the outer corner of the eye and up around the outer corner (it disguises crow’s feet too!). Blend by patting with your ring finger. Flip the brush over and repeat in the dark area on the inner corner of your eye.
- Reload your brush and repeat on the other eye. You can use the rest around your nose if you have redness there.
That’s it. Eyes are bright and it is undetectable. Bonus: I feel I have extra-nourished that delicate, line-prone under eye area with the Smooth Affair Facial Primer & Brightener. It looks dewy and plumped. Double bonus: Because it’s got primer in the mix, it does not make the area smeary like eye creams can. Eyeliner (and I like a LOT of eyeliner) stays put. Try it and tell us what you think!
