Stand up star Sarah Millican reveals her make-up essentials.
I love buying make up but I am never sure what I should be wearing. But sod ‘should’. This is what I like and feel nice in at the moment.
1. Body Shop All-in-one Cheek Colour in Flushed, £8
Blusher is essential most days, though my rosy cheeks sometimes suffice. I like pinks for that fresh, healthy look. I suppose I could just to be healthy but flicking on some ‘health powder’ is quicker and involves fewer gyms. Current choice is The Body Shop’s Flushed. I love any make up named after toilets and menopausal women.
2. Bobbi Brown No Smudge Mascara in Black, £18
I’m new to mascara because as a teenager I aways thought it would paint bar codes on the insides of my glasses. I’ve since learnt that I had delusions about how long my lashes are. There are too many mascaras out there. There. I said it. Too many. I always want a small one as I never get to the end of the huge ones before it’s gone all clumpy. Current favourite is this.
3. L’oreal Paris True Match Touche Magique Concealer, £8.19
I flit about between foundations but always use this for under my eyes. It just makes you look less knackered and therefore knocks a good 18 months off you. I like calling it Magic Touch.
4. Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eye Liner, £17
I am progressing with eyeliner. I watch the make up artists who work on my face at telly jobs and try to pick up tips. I love the little pots of gel eyeliner from Bobbi Brown. They’re somewhere happily between the wetness of a liquid eyeliner and the hardness of a pencil. Though I have just fallen in love with Stila’s smudge stick eyeliner in blue ribbon.
Sarah’s new tour, Home Bird, starts this September. See http://www.sarahmillican.co.uk for details.
