Happy New Year! I love the optimism and urge we have at this time of year to start fresh (especially after some *ahem* holiday excesses), to upgrade and optimize our lives. But what about the old junk from 2013 that’s dragging us backwards? Get rid of it!
I am not generally a big Feng Shui-er, but I have heard the principle that in order to make room for new things we must remove the old, unhelpful clutter. This month we hope to inspire you to do just that. Now, this is a makeup blog not a self-help guide, so we’ll be talking beauty, not trying to solve the great life struggles, but who knows – starting with the little things might generate inertia to tackle the big ones!
To kick things off, doesn’t it seems strange that we keep our makeup in the grossest old bag, closet or drawer? Don’t deny it! I confess this is an issue that is near and dear to my heart. My makeup kit was so dirty, I had to keep makeup remover in there because my brushes were getting cross-contaminated (black eyeliner on my Concealer Brush is never a good thing). My pre-holiday-party 24-Karat Gold Dust-aster is documented on Instagram, and I’m afraid to say, it’s not an isolated incident.
So I was truly inspired by this person who tagged us on Instagram showing her “happy place,” a beautiful spot by the window where she does her makeup.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a tiny sweet moment of serenity in the five (or thirty) minutes we spend getting our faces ready for the day? A clean, pretty makeup kit can help us do just that. And that’s just for starters; we have more “out with the old, in with the new” planned throughout the month. Next we plan to tackle your abandoned makeup – you know, those jane iredale shades or products you thought would be awesome, but you just haven’t figured out how to use? We have your answers. Then we will be gathering get-healthy tips from around the office, asking what resolutions people are trying and more importantly, what’s working. Finally, we will introduce our brand new Starter Kit, which we are so excited about, plus a contest so you can share it – and your love of jane iredale, with your friends.
