EL Cello Shots

See through, hydrating cheek gels that come in dinky pump dispensers. I’m all over them

As obsessed as I am with cheek colour (how do you blush-boycotters avoid looking half dead?), gel blushers and I have never been friends. While gorgeous and sheer on oilier skins, they generally sink immediately into drier faces like mine, making them impossible to blend and leaving behind messy, unnatural tide marks. I’ve avoided them like the clap, until now.

Estee Lauder’s new Cello Shots Cheek Rush blushers are an easy, pretty, summery joy. They’re little pump dispensers of gel blush in four vibrant shades (deceptively so – they’re actually extremely light and soft on the skin). They can be applied once for a very subtle see-through glow, or built up in layers into something more punchy. They’re beautiful dabbed on cheeks over a tinted moisturiser on a sunny day, and although Lauder has made matching lipglosses and gorgeous limited edition lip shines, I personally like to apply the blush to my lips too (apart from looking lovely, this is also a way around my only criticism of Cello Shots – too much comes out in one pump).

Crucially, Cello Shots Cheek Rush gels don’t streak or stain. They’re hydrating (do I detect hyaluronic acid here? I suspect so) and slick, giving you plenty of ‘playtime’ before taking root. Once set, they last all day until cleansing. I particularly love Pink Patent, a perky bright pink flush, and Hot Fuse, the colour of strawberry laces, but there’s a shade for every skin colour and taste. Also, the packaging is pure sex.
