YSL Cannelle

YSL’s spicy offering is Sali’s favourite this season

This is YSL Opulent Cannelle. Just look at it FFS. There is something about YSL nail polishes in particular that make me perform audible gasps every damn season. This shade sent me up another octave. It is part of the 5-strong (plus a top coat) Spicy Collection, out February 26th, and though I agree it is the eponymous dusty, warm shade of cinnamon stick, to me it evokes cool retro starlets like Catherine Deneuve and Tippi Hedren. It is impossibly chic and correct, skin flattering and elegant and is the kind of nail polish shade I imagine worn by the well to-do women of Park Avenue circa 1958, never worn away by anything remotely resembling hard graft, always neat and shiny, never garish. It is my favourite nail colour since Jade Imperial of last year (also YSL. They are truly genius at nail colour). Incidentally, like all Saint Laurent polishes, this one lasts extremely well for a beauty (as opposed to salon) brand, and looks great with one coat – amazing in two – and absolutely, positively does not streak on the nail. Which is why I come back to La Laque gasping, gushing and practically weeping, season after season.
