Salihughesbeauty.com – a beauty site without the BS
“Pour yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together.” Elizabeth Taylor
Welcome to salihughesbeauty.com! I’m so excited to finally launch this, my own site for opinionated, smart women who just happen to love beauty with a passion. This site is not for jargon, cod-science and wishy-washy holistic cobblers. It’s about telling you what works, sharing expert and community advice and giving you loads of good stuff to watch and read.
We’ll be interviewing lots of cool, interesting women and beauty industry legends; and asking world-renowned hair and make-up artists to tell us which products they’re really using and how. We’ll tell you when a brilliant new product or treatment launches, provide sound beauty advice and tips, and give you strong, entertaining opinion and features from great writers like Lucy Mangan, India Knight, Fiona Gibson, Bim Adewunmi and Michael Hogan.
But this site isn’t just about us, it’s also about you. We’d love you to talk below the line about the issues we raise in our content; then over on the community forum, you can chat with like-minded women about anything you fancy. There are special areas for beauty, fashion, sex, social issues, books, health, food, or communal spaces for quacking on about whatever comes up. Nothing is off-limits, nothing can be too off-topic. We delight in every aspect of beauty here, but also know there are more important things in life than lipstick.
I promise we will always be honest with you. If we’re getting paid to feature something, you will always be told in no uncertain terms. We won’t work with commercial partners we don’t genuinely rate, even if that costs us. As in all my writing, I will never tell you I love a product when I don’t. I will never tell you something works unless I really believe it’s effective. We are simply never going to try to flog you a weight-loss cream or bust gel – but we will tell you why we think they can’t work, and why buying this exquisite new perfume instead will make you feel a hundred times more fabulous.
Thanks so much for logging on. I really hope you enjoy what you find here. Please sign up and let us know what you think.
